4D BIM for Construction Logistics Management

This study presents an investigation into the extent to which emerging building information modelling (BIM) can be applied construction logistics management (CLM). Given specialist nature of domains, employed in-depth qualitative interview, whereby six experts were interrogated about their experiences BIM for CLM. The found main applications on CLM creation three-dimensional (3D) site layout plans and four-dimensional (4D) coordination processes common user plant, updating 4D plan as project progressed collaboration in BIM-based coordination. Furthermore, there was a consensus amongst interviewees improvement safety, comprehension information, efficiency site, effectiveness planning benefits. Lastly, lack training with implications understanding one barriers applying findings from this have potential stimulate uptake by practitioners. By so doing, performance delivery improved, waste minimised or eliminated.
